President of the Republic, Abdelmadjid Tebboune, called Monday on the international community to assume its historic responsibilities towards the practices of Zionist occupation aimed at undermining the building of the sovereign Palestinian state.
In a speech given on the sidelines of the celebration of the International Day of Solidarity with Palestinian People, Tebboune reiterated Algeria’s support to the struggle of Palestinian people “to recover its stolen rights.”
He further called on the international community “to assume its historic responsibilities towards the violation, by Zionist occupation, of international law and its practices to impose the status quo policy, withdraw its commitments and deny agreements in order to hamper the building of the sovereign Palestinian state.”
On this occasion that marks the recognition of historic injustice suffered by the valiant Palestinian people in their legitimate struggle to recover their stolen rights, the President of the Republic recalled that the status of Palestinian cause as regards to the crimes committed by the Zionisit occupation forces “requires the international community to to deploy more efforts in order to bring the UN, particularly its Security Council, to honor its commitments to defend international law and order, to work to hold the Zionist occupation to account for the overruns and violations committed against the Palestinian people and to ensure international protection.
He recalled, in this regard, the Algerian approach based on the principle stipulating that “no solution can be reached without the involvement of the Palestinians.”
In this regard, the Head of State reiterated Algeria’s commitment to the Arab Peace Initiative, adopted in Beirut at the Arab League Summit.
An initiative based on the principle of total withdrawal of all occupied Arab territories in return for peace within the framework of international law and the relevant resolutions of the Security Council, in particular resolutions 242 and 338,” he recalled.
The international community is called upon “to address this situation by rejecting the double standard policy and assuming its historic and legal responsibilities,” stressed President Tebboune.
It is therefore necessary to put pressure on Israeli occupier to bring it into compliance with international law, in order to avoid the consequences of the current situation and its direct repercussions on the achievement of peace and security at both regional and international levels.
“Loyal to its principles, Algeria reiterates today, on the sidelines of the International Day of Solidarity with Palestinian people, its support to the sincere initiatives and serious approaches aimed at achieving peace in the Middle East in line with international law,” said the President of the Republic calling on the international community to redouble efforts to protect the Palestinians from violations.
