The President of the Republic, Abdelmadjid Tebboune, on Monday addressed a message to the participants of the Arab-Islamic Extraordinary Summit, held in Doha, read on his behalf by the Minister of State, Minister of Foreign Affairs, National Community Abroad and African Affairs, Ahmed Attaf.
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
“It is no longer an overstatement to say that our collective security forms an indivisible and non-fragmentable whole. Israel’s blatant aggression against our brother nation Qatar constitutes an attack on the entire Arab-Muslim world, an assault on its security and stability, a violation of its integrity and rights, and an attack on all the values and principles in which it believes and that all humanity embraces.
In the face of this despicable aggression, Algeria stands with complete sincerity and loyalty alongside Qatar, its leadership, government, and people. To our brothers in this nation so close to our hearts, Algeria pledges its full support for whatever decisions they deem appropriate and necessary to preserve their sovereignty, protect their territorial integrity, and ensure the safety of their citizens.
It is now clear to everyone that the Israeli occupation knows no bounds in its hegemony, tyranny, and arrogance. It recognizes no limits in its systematic violations of international law and the UN Charter, nor even the basic principles of civilized coexistence.
It is now evident to all that the Israeli occupation can only conceive of its own security at the expense of others, sees its stability only by weakening others, and believes the only path to its own peace is to plunge the entire region into an endless cycle of violence, devastation, and destruction.
It is equally clear to all that Israeli occupation, through its aggressive policies and criminal practices, now represents the greatest threat to regional and international peace and security. How could it be otherwise, when alongside the ongoing genocide it is conducting against the Palestinian people in Gaza, this occupation has not hesitated to attack five regional countries since the beginning of this year: Lebanon, Syria, Yemen, Iran, and now Qatar.
How could it be otherwise, when every time the prospect of ending its Gaza aggression emerges, its only response is escalation and opening new fronts one after another. How could it be otherwise, when it threatens to redraw the entire regional map by reviving the myth of “Greater Israel.”
Two days ago, the UN Security Council convened, at Algeria’s request, with support from numerous allied and friendly countries, to address Israeli aggression against our brother country. The meeting demonstrated remarkable solidarity and deep sympathy for Qatar from all member states.
The international community is no longer silent, weak-willed, or hesitant in responding to Israeli occupation. The overwhelming majority now believes that only deterrence and sanctions can stop those who consider themselves above the rules, laws, and standards that bind everyone else.
Our decisions must reflect this reality, and we must speak with one unified voice to transform this growing international awareness into firm measures, to curb the arrogance of the occupier, render justice to the region’s countries and peoples, and address the root causes of this conflict.”
