
President of the Republic, Abdelmadjid Tebboune, inaugurated, Monday afternoon in Sidi Fredj (Algiers), in the presence of his Tunisian counterpart, Kaïs Saïed, the commemorative stele “Milestone of Freedom,” symbolizing the raising of the emblem of independent Algeria, and this during the festivities celebrating the 60th anniversary of the recovery of national sovereignty.
The President of the Republic was also accompanied by President of the Council of the Nation, Salah Goudjil, President of the People’s National Assembly (APN), Brahim Boughali and Chief of Staff of the People’s National Army (ANP), General Said Chanegriha, as well as senior state officials, members of the Government, national personalities and mujahideen.
After listening to the national anthem, the two presidents, Abdelmadjid Tebboune and Kaïs Saïed have solemnly inaugurated this emblematic stele.
The stele “Milestone of Freedom” symbolizes the place where the flag of independent Algeria was raised by the hero, Colonel Si Mohand Oulhadj, instead of the French flag at Sidi Fredj port.
The event was also marked by the presence of Colonel Salah Boubnider, the mother of the Shahid Didouche Mourad and Colonel Youcef el Khatib who attended, Monday, the inauguration ceremony.
